They said don’t build your house by the river
Don’t build your house so near
But we built our house by the river
We loved our river so dear.

They said don’t stay in your house by the river
It’s safer up over here
But we stayed near our growing river

We saw their mouths form circles
From their windows they cried in dismay
As the river swept us up
And we sailed on, we sailed on away.
